Citroën GT

This just looks gorgeous from behind. It is good from the front and side as well… But the rear… wow.

I know it is April Fool’s day but this is no joke. This is a car actually first designed for a computer game (Gran Turismo 5: Prologue) and then the developers had the idea to bring this car to the road… well. sort of. Apparently only 6 being produced by Citroen.

Good gimmick: if you ever run out of shaving blades, you can use the rear edge of your car… 😀

they are a bit pricey for sure. But most certainly also very pretty. Just make an image search on google… Love it!

Wonder why that idea never really was followed for mass production…?? 😉

interesting concept though and I would love to see what this technology would look like today…

Kia GT

This I just found recently…

I think it has a lot of interesting details. Just google for more pictures. I like the design without the B-pillar.

Imagine. Not so long ago you had the impression that Asian car manufacturers do not employ designers… Today many look at the same level or even better than many much more expensive cars…

What do you think?

Irmscher Inspiro

Irmscher is probably best known for being the tuner for Opel…

What I show here is actually a concept car that is already 11 years old. Irmscher just got it out to show it at the Retro Classics Car Exhibition in Stuttgart just recently. It is a fully driving example as can be seen on some youtube videos.

I really like it as it combines some of the best elements of some of my favourite roadsters. You can easily recognise a Caterham 7, A Wiesmann Roadster and a Morgan plus 8…

Not being a fan of Opel I never paid attention to Irmscher so far, so I really came across this concept car just now. Then again, with the Speedster Opel brought a beautiful roadster to the market in the 2000s…

I am not sure why Irmscher is actually not building this car. I think it looks good and certainly is technically mature enough to entertain a lot of drivers.

Pity. It’s a thing of beauty…

Volkswagen XL1

20130307_VWXL1

A stunning car, which has been developed as a concept to research technology for VW’s normal models is the XL1. Now in the news they sad after the first series of 50 cars they want to build another 200 cars… Is that a publicity stunt? And what happens afterwards?

I don’t want to go into technology here as it was discussed and explained all over the media already and that stuff can be found easy when you use google.

Only that much: VW claims it can reach 0.9 l/100km. Now that would be very good… A recent test though showed it will be closer to 1.3 l/100km. Still very good…

For me more important is the fact that it looks absolutely stunning. This looks like a proper future car. It has some really cool gadgets like two cameras instead of wing mirrors. It is probably a bit geeky for a grown up car but I would love to see this one going into mass production.

For a reasonable price, of course. And that probably is the biggest problem. The excessive use of carbon down to even the seats to save weight, will not allow for a moderate price tag…

In the current economical climate THAT is unfortunately everything else but futuristic… No wonder VW remains silent in questions regarding the price…

But doesn’t it look beautiful?

Peugeot Onyx

Concept car Peugeot ONYX

Not much to say about this one but I just came across it yesterday as the guys at Top Gear were driving it and showing off at facebook with it…

And what should I say? This is a fully working concept car! It has a slightly better power to weight Ratio than the Bugatti Veyron, the currently fastest production car… They could start producing it and I bet many people bought it. I would… If I had the spare cash and someone to clean the copper parts. Yes you read correctly. copper. The stuff that used to be on church roofs and turns green with age. I assume Peugeot will have found a way to prevent this from happening, but if I could have one, I would insist on ageing copper…

I mean how very cool would it be to see the age of the car by the degree of oxydised copper?? I love the idea. Puts a completely new spin on green technology… No seriously. imagine you could order the car with side panels in your personal material…

24 carat gold anyone?

Lancia Stratos Zero

20130217_LanciaStratosZero

If there was one car designer to have continuously built the most breathtaking cars and prototypes it would have to be Bertone.

This Lancia concept for the Stratos shows why…

This is 1970! It looks like it came straight from Alpha Centauri to planet Earth. I mean it still looks like that. Put it into a modern day science fiction movie and people believed it is a recent concept design. There is a nice little clip on youtube showing this car in its natural habitat (if cars would have one). You can also find a very good write up about the Zero at RM auctions who were to sell the car in 2011.

The Lancia Stratos that was so successful in rallying later was a fascinating piece of engineering and design, but this one, its conceptual predecessor… simply unbelievable.

Would it be practicable in everyday use? well try getting in and out of it in heavy rain, or try to open the door after a night of snowfall to get the de-icer out of the car… no. it would be totally impracticable for every day.

And still I would drive with that one to work every single day.
